Gazestar padded up onto the Wing Branch, and looked out among her growing clan. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather under the wing branch for a clan meeting!" Cats padded from their dens, some drowsy, others wide awake. When they were all settled in the clearing, she continued. "We have three new members joining us today. First, we have a medicine cat apprentice. Fernpaw." She smiled at the young brown tabby she-cat. "Then her sister, a warrior, Pastwhisper." She nodded at the pretty silver she-cat. "Then, a apprentice and their brother, Eaglepaw." She poited with her tail at the white tom.
"Eaglepaw will need a mentor, as will Hawkpaw and Mistpaw. Pastwhisper will mentor Mistpaw, Firedust will mentor Eaglepaw, and Moontide will mentor Hawkpaw." She paused to let the mentors touch noses with their apprentices. "We also need two patrols to hunt and set the borders. Pastwhisper, Firedust, Mistpaw, and Eaglepaw will hunt. Moontide, Gorsetangle, and Hawkpaw will border patrol." She nodded at them. "That is all. Clan dissmissed!"
Pastwhisper awkwardly touched noses with Mistpaw. "N-nice to meet you," she mewed, attempting a smile. She padded over to where Eaglepaw and a ginger tom she didn't know were waiting. "Hi," she mewed to the ginger tom. "What's your name?"

Eaglepaw smirked. He could see in his sister's expression that she already liked Firedust. He turned to Mistpaw. "Hi, I'm Eaglepaw," he said, his tone friendly. "I assume you're name's Mistpaw?"

Fernpaw padded into the empty medicine den, noticing that there was a shortage of tansy and coltsfoot.

Mistpaw smiled. "Yep. I look the colour of mist, right?" She sat down.

Gorsetangle ran out with his patrol.

Pastwhisper nodded rather stiffly. "Yeah, my crazy little brother," she mewed. "Are we all here?"

Eaglepaw smirked. "You have a point," he told Mistpaw. His ears perked up at Firedust's words. "Race you," he told Mistpaw, running ahead and out of camp.

Firedust padded briskly out of the camp. He glanced around at the forest, it was very green. He looked at Pastwhisper. "I kinda wish I was an apprentice, for the old fun and games I pulled with the others." He smiled.

Pastwhisper nodded. "Yeah, me too," she mewed, wishing she could say something more interesting. "Hey," she said. "Maybe while we're patrolling you could...show me the territory or something," she mewed, her heart racing oddly the way it never had before.

Eaglepaw flew through the forest, Mistpaw close on his heels. The she-cat passed him up in a matter of seconds, so he tried to go faster. Right when he thought he was going to pull ahead, he tripped on a rock and tumbled head over heels through the forest, turning his white pelt the color of mud and leaves mixed with snow.

Eaglepaw, who had come to a final landing on his face, rolled over. He was covered in mud, but was laughing and purring hysterically. "I'm fine," he gasped. "Just tripped and flew through the forest on the back of my pelt is all!"
